Podcasting

Podcasting is great for people who have something real to say or for educational purposes. Unfortunately it allows millions of idiots to flood the internet with more useless sounds of some moron pissing off a balcony because he thinks someone will be amused by it when there the only one dumb enough to care about it.

RSS

RSS is a good idea because you can get the information you want, but at what point does it become spam? Once you subscribe, if you forget to check your email for a week or two, you have a mailbox full of stuff you might not care about anymore and you have to sift through all that crap to get to the stuff you like. Quit being lazy and find it for yourself.

Second Life

I like the educational aspects of second life, but it's really just an excuse for gamers to get online and socialize. The biggest problem with it is that you need a somewhat decent computer to run it not allowing people on a budget access to this information. If this is the future of the internet, it's going to be a scary place, i don't want to have to to say i was late for class because i was supposed to take a right when flying by the statue of liberty not a left.

Trend: Google

I love Google. They seem to want to make the internet an easier place for users.
I don't think there is anything i don't like about them other than they have monopolized the search engine market. Google is the future, i can't wait to see how they make life easier for us.

Week 6 What are your thoughts about the next developments

To make you're cell phone into your credit card is asking for all sorts of trouble. Once the technology is public it won't be long before people are hacking it and stealing money from everybody they walk next to. Not to mention if they can get to your money they can get to all of your personal information.

It's bad enough that with the right equipment you can hackand record peoples conversations with bluetooth but to use credit cards in cell phones is just opening pandoras box.

Week 4 700 MHz frequency

The 700 MHz is so appealing because there isn't an unlimited amount of frequencies out there. Owning a certain frequency allows companies to test new wireless technologies out on their own frequency and then bank on it by owning the rights to the technology.

Have you heard of SPARQL?

It is a nice concept, let the computer do all the work for you. Let the computer find the information you want so you don't have to search for yourself. Sounds nice, but i see a huge problem with it.

Fiirst off, i find most of the websites i like by accident. I look for something specific, and accidently run into something related that is more interesting. But if you let the computer do all the looking for you then you will be missing out on a lot. It might be convenient at times but then what about the people with small sites who still need to get there names out there. Will they have the knowledge to program their website to be compatible with SPARQL? Not to mention, everyone doing websites will have to learn yet another technology that many customers will not be able to afford but will want anyway.

Comcast announced that 100 Mbps broadband is coming in 2008.

I'm pumped about those kind of download speeds right now i am only getting around 1 mbps. To get up to 100 would mean almost instantaneous loading of web pages and great load times on my video games. What else can someone ask for?

1. How do you feel about the FBI investing in this database system? Is it

It honestly disgusts me that the FBI has to stick it's nose in all of our business. I understand they need to be able to protect us but when does protecting cross the line to stalking? If they need to know everything about us why don't they just make us stick a little camera on our heads so they can find it all out. The majority of people are not doing anything bad so i don't understand why they have to waste my money keeping tabs on Ole granny who just wants to email her girlfriend some pictures of her vacation to Florida. The actual bad people aren't stupid enough to leave it all out there so it's just a waste of money.
